~ Ugly Sisters ~
.
.
With Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' as a soundtrack (inspired by Snow White in Shrek III), meet three rather scary looking sisters. I would have loved to have taken this photo during a violent electrical storm with a backdrop of lightning and threatening skies, however mother nature gave me this lovely day instead ... and who am I to argue with mother nature, (particularly if THESE are her daughters !)

A very dramatic shot literally oozing with evil looking intentions ! Well done. Actually it reminds me of the tale of Cinderella... here we can see the old Step-Mother and the two ugly sisters in their element ! You're right of course Andy, this would have even more impact if it was at dead of night taken during a raging, thunderous electrical storm with the wind and rain lashing the tree limbs... one can easily visualise the jagged bolts of lightning crazing across the sky above, their brilliance wrapping around the gnarled and age-old craggy barks of these three ancient relics of the forest. Be a tough assignment in those conditions though !!!

s'what i thought also luckyg regarding Cinderella...
what about shooting the shot right up almost directly under the trees--to be able to see bits of the sky thru the mess of branches and scrubby bark?? hmmmm.....

I took a shot of a radio transmitter tower years ago using that technique, like I was literally right up against it shooting straight up... it was very dramatic in a weathered metal way, but it went on for ever up into the heavens. You'd swear it was thousands of feet high ! I recall now that I also took a shot of Le Tour Eiffel standing right underneath it ( circa Jan 1975 ) when you could do such arty things without getting moved on !

Thanks for the thoughts ... I did try from right at the base of the trees with my head jammed up against them, but the incredibly intricate mass of foliage you can see became somewhat confusing and the effect was lost to a degree ... might try the Eiffel thing though LG, I always wanted to be arrested in Paris ! (the city that is, not the intelligence challenged blonde)
