.Originally, this was a much larger photograph I took of a girl playing a trumpet in a cemetary with an ugly background of industrial concrete facades ... was cropped and treated to give the feeling of a smoky jazz club somewhere ...

A friend's brother turned me on to your site (as I am a photographer myself) and while I find the photos somewhat interesting, his comment the "the photographer is his greatest fan" seems apt....
Is there any place (like Flickr or something)where we might just enjoy and appreciate the pics for what they are?
Thanks
A glint on the watch would be nice? Similar to one of your previous photos I think *with a twinkle* Enjoying the viewing and the abstractness (huh) of it all :)LFN
Anon 1 ... Not sure I fully understand the "photgrapher is his greatest fan" comment, or why that should detract from your viewing of this blog. If you are referring to comments made by LuckyG along the way, Í don't know about the greatest fan bit, but one thing I can say is that he (LG) is a marvellous professional photographer with a wealth of knowledge and experience ... Rather than being a 'fan', he has been a wonderful friend and mentor, and has been supportive with his comments, both complimentary and also constuctive criticism for which I am most grateful and appreciative.
Sorry, but no, the photo's don't appear elsewhere, but I feel that if anyone simply wishes to view the photo's they can see them all right here. There is no obligation for anyone to read descriptions and comments unless they wish to do so.
I do appreciate you taking the time to have a look here. I do not for one moment consider myself to be an 'elite' photographer, I am on a steep learning curve. The purpose of this blog is not a showcase of top photographs ... there are many others not included on this blog that I consider to be much better work than these, however this is a project, and a personally based one that I am happy to share with anyone interested. To that end, I am more than happy to receive constructive comments, be they bouquets or brickbats ... always keen to learn from others, and occasionally, a little encouragement (where earned) can go a long way too !
Thanks again for taking the time to visit :)
LFN ... I did think of that (the glint) and tried it, but it just didn't seem to work so well with this, not sure why, but to my eye it just looked too fake. Thank you for the comments and for appreciating the 'abstractness' (aka quirkiness?) of it all ! :)
Nice effective treatment. Gives it a surreal silvered effect.
On comments by some, as you said Andy, this is a learning curve. Constructive criticism is intended to help. Other comments are intended to be supportive of your endeavours. You've undertaken a task that most would not be able to keep up.
"Anon 1" here: I guess, well thanks for the reply. I've never heard any one work so hard to show how humble he is, but yeah. I will move on. Good luck.
Thanks LG ... your support, guidance and criticism is greatly appreciated :)
Thank you too Anon 1 for replying to the above ... It's not about humility really, it's simply being honest about where I'm at and what I'm doing ... As a photographer yourself, I would appreciate your valued input, but it's up to you whether you stay or move on ... Do you have any of your work represented on-line anywhere ? ... I'm always keen to see what others are doing too, and would be most interested ... Cheers :)
Anon 1 here again: (you caught me on a rare moment online)
My work is largely used in European commercial hack stuff, so I am not bragging or trying to explain my work; I am just remembering my mama's words about "better to keep your mouth shut, son, and have them think you a fool; than to open it and know you for one."
Its good of you, in all honesty, to make this a determinedly amateur site. It puts your work in a healthy perspective. Thank you. Might check in later too, just out of curiosity.
